On six days in December the garden of Collina Luxury Relais in Clusone becomes the Winter Garden, an outdoor lunch around a cheese fondue, with glowing braziers, sofas, blankets and background music. The inspiration comes from Swiss winter resorts, St. Moritz and Gstaad above all, brought to Val Seriana with the Orobie Alps as a backdrop.
The Fondue Experience costs €40 per person, drinks excluded, and is served from 12:30 pm over the Immaculate Conception and Christmas holidays. Booking is required and places are limited.

What the Fondue Experience includes
The table is served with cheese fondue, rustic bread for dipping and a selection of cured meats. Drinks are ordered à la carte; in Switzerland, fondue is traditionally paired with a dry white wine.
The setting
The dedicated area in the garden is designed for staying outdoors even when the air is cold: the braziers stay lit throughout lunch, the lounge sofas are covered with cushions and winter fabrics, and every seat has throws and blankets. Warm lighting and background music accompany the afternoon, which can stretch well beyond lunch.
It’s best to dress as you would for a day in the mountains, with warm layers and comfortable shoes: the fire and the fondue take care of the rest.
How to round off the day
After lunch, anyone looking for some warmth can head to the My Purity SPA, with a half-day pass from 2:30 pm to 7:30 pm and a pool heated to 37 degrees overlooking the valley. For an aperitif before heading home there is the Rotonda Champagnerie, where the braziers stay lit in winter.
